Though the peripheral taluks of Dakshina Kannada District, especially at the foothills of Western Ghats like Sullia and Belthangady, had been receiving good amount of rainfall from the past few days, the city was parched for rain. The showers that were received in the past few days had lasted for a few minutes only bringing more misery in terms of heat. Mangaluru recorded maximum temperature at 28 degree Celsius a far cry from the 36 degree Celsius that the city was experiencing since a fortnight.
